Cameron's encryption ban is 'infeasible', says Parliamentary office

Written by

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology has issued a briefing that describes David Cameron's pledge to ban encryption on the web as neither technically feasible, nor an acceptable UK policy.

The document, titled The Darknet and Online Anonymity, examines technologies that anonymise internet users, and the reasons why people use them. It focuses particular attention on the Tor anonymity network, which British police said in 2012 was used by "many" paedophiles.
